According to a survey conducted by Nature Conservation Foundation (NCF), in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh forest department, there are 73 snow leopards across 26,112 sq km habitat area in the state. The most frequent sightings occur in Kibber Plateau, Kee, Gete, Tashigang, Shilla Nalla, Langza, Hikkim, Komic, Demul, Salung, Rama and Lalung. Snow leopard population mapping was done using 80 camera traps across upper Kinnaur, Pin Valley, Baspa Valley, Tabo, Tharot-Miyar, Bhaga, Chandra, and upper Spiti valley. The IUCN has put Snow Leopards in the vulnerable category in India.

Rampur starts.

Today Morning after breakfast, We would head early towards our
destination for day 2 which would be Tabo Village. Enroute you will
find the amazing view of Satluj & Spiti Rivers at Khab. You can stop for
lunch in Nako village which is famous for a beautiful lake as well.
On arrival at Tabo, Check-in to the Stay and retire for the day. Enjoy
the Dinner & Overnight stay at Tabo

Today Morning after breakfast, We will visit the 1000 years old
UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Famous Tabo Monastery. Spend
some time there and head towards the destination for the day towards
Chicham Village.
After arrival at Chicham village, we will explore the nearby places
which will help you to adapt and acclimatize to the high altitude regions
which will also prevent you from getting into any kind of altitude
sickness.

Today morning after breakfast we will proceed for the snow Leopard sighting. One can also go to see the Blue Sheep, Red Fox and Ibex after having breakfast. It is advised to all the travelers to stay nearby to the homestay until and unless we received any message about the good Snow Leopard sighting. Packed lunch will be served at the Snow Leopard site but if there are no sightings then lunch will be served at the homestay only. There will be wood fired hot stove and electric heater in every room and towels will be provided too. In winter season there will be no running water so the warm water will be provided to you for fresh and up everyday. There are only dry toilets in the village, So all the travellers are advised to carry wet wipes & other toiletries with them. Bathroom facility is separate, if someone wants to take a bath then hot water will be provided. Everything will be served at the door, you don’t have to lift anything during the trip. Camera will be carried by the porter and daytime backpack. Experts and guides will be there in case there might be instant possibility of sightings.
